Partners 2021: AIT

The AIT Austrian Institute of Technology is Austria’s largest research and technology organisation. Among the European research institutes, AIT is a specialist in the key infrastructure issues of the future. As an Ingenious Partner to industry and public institutions, AIT is already researching and developing the technologies, methods and tools of tomorrow ‑ paving the way for the innovations of the day after tomorrow.

As one of our Partners 2021, the AIT enables us to carry out our campaign for more and better science communication in times of Corona and climate change. Thank you very much!

Dear friends and guests of the Science Ball!

The role of basic research is immense. Without basic research there is no development of energy alternatives and Covid vaccines to combat climate change and the corona pandemic.

The currently planned cuts of 36 billion euros in the budget of the EU research program “Horizon Europe” are not only short-sighted, but negligent.  The “Rescue Horizon Europe” campaign intends to convince the EU Commission, the EU Parliament and the European Council (in which the Austrian federal government has a seat and a vote) to change their mind at the last minute.

We support  together with 1400 researchers throughout Europe, including 8 Nobel Prize winners, and the umbrella organizations of about 800 universities this campaign and ask you to do the same with your signature: http://www.rescue-horizon-europe.org

By the way: without basic research there is no science ball. It’s as simple as that.

Dear guests of the ball, dear contributors, dear friends!

Organizing a science ball means acting based on evidence. You can guess what I’m getting at: the legal and medical evidence speaks against holding the next Vienna Science Ball in January 2021. That is why we have to cancel the ball for this season.

I know from many e-mails, conversations, pre-registrations, reservations and bookings how much you regret this cancellation. But there are two messages that give us hope: Continue reading New date for 2022

On behalf of the Executive Director and Fulbright Austria staff, thank you for your continued support. Fulbright Austria program participants from past and present enjoyed the Ball of Sciences tremendously! A few even experienced their first ball in Austria; these moments in time create memories that will last a lifetime. We also want to thank you for adding our logo in the program.

Thank you for your support in making a positive impact on the experience of Fulbright Austria participants and alumnae/alumni.

Kind regards,

Mitch Sims

No box office this evening!

Attention: there will be NO box office this evening. At the ball itself, only the few tickets that have already been paid but not yet picked up will be issued at the Lichtenfelsgasse entrance of the town hall starting at 7.45 pm. So it makes no sense to come to the city hall without tickets.

A quick tip: the ticket sale for the 7th Science Ball 2021 will most likely begin on November 11, 2020. Just send an e-mail to ball@wissenschaftsball.at and be reminded by e-mail alert in November 2020. Have fun.

Student tix sold out (again!)

Our student tickets are sold out (again!). Apologies. Meanwhile, regular tickets at € 90 are still available at the webshop. Past experience proves that these tickets will sell even faster now the student tickets are gone, so hurry! We might raffle a couple of student tickets on our Facebook page in the coming days, so like it to keep updated.

And as in the past years we have set up a ticket exchange group (no liability!) on Facebook. Good luck!
